Five Bands, One Community Center Basement

On a chilly March evening, five New England bands performed at the Cambridge Community Center. Stringhead opened with dreamy shoegaze, followed by South Shore emo band Summers In Autumn. Baby’s Breath showcased their debut album, “Tough Cookie,” before Boston’s Brownie Points played Midwest Emo. The night concluded with This City Hates You’s intense performance.

On a chilly evening in late March, members of five New England bands loaded their instruments into the basement of the Cambridge Community Center. Often a spot for local musicians, the CCC hosts shows on Sunday nights which bring in a diverse audience.

First up, Stringhead brought heavy shoegaze and a dreamy vibe to the space. Featuring three musicians, they were the perfect band to open up the night.

Next up, Summers In Autumn, a South Shore emo band that made the journey to play at the CCC performed.

After them, Baby’s Breath is a female fronted band from Rhode Island. They recently released their debut album, “Tough Cookie” in which they performed in full. Featuring two vocalists, Baby’s Breath is an enchanting mix of poetry and raw, powerful lyricism.

Second the last on the lineup is Brownie Points, an emo band from Boston. They take inspiration from the Midwest Emo genre, often changing from quiet instrumentals to intense and loud vocals.

The night was finished off by a strong performance by This City Hates You. Two vocalists gave this set double the angst and emotion that the band represents.
